Nisswa and Brainerd Area Fishing Report 2-19-08

The crappie fishing continues to be rock solid in the Brainerd area. Most anglers are finding nice schools of crappies hanging out in the deeper basin areas of the smaller lakes in the area. The bays of bigger lakes are also worth checking out. Traditional lures like demon jigs tipped with a crappie minnow or a couple of spikes has produced the best results. The pike fishing continues to be pretty good too. Some good pike lakes have been Edwards, Cullen, and the Gull Chain. 10-15 feet of water has been the best depth for pike. The walleye fishing has been a little slower lately. A few smaller fish are still being caught in 25-35 feet on Gull. The best action for walleyes has been on smaller baits. Good luck this week.
